Arthur Grant was doing his rounds on the night of July 4th, it was a rather quiet night, nothing seemed to be out of place. It was just about time for him to leave, so when he rounded the last corner of his rounds he began to circle back towards reception in the main building of the Asylum to ensure everything was taken care of. He walked at a brisk pace, eventually making it to the reception desk. "Preparing to head out, Arthur?" Bob Reedy, another orderly that was stationed at reception would state, turning to look in Grant's direction. "Yeah, everything on the west wing is in order. Most of the inmates are actually sleeping, haven't seen that before..
Bob chuckled, he had been an orderly for close to 16 years, a man like him has seen just about everything. "It happens sometimes... Usually, there's a rowdy bunch on the fourth, maybe they just weren't up to it today." Grant nodded and took a seat at the reception desk after nodding his head at the nurses and other employees. Bob talked to him, the others usually respected the fact that he was on the quiet side. Not that he didn't like talking to Bob, he was a family man that was just looking out for him. Arthur looked at his work email, saw a few bulletins from Arkham and the other medical personnel but nothing really related to him.
He went to clock out but stopped when he heard a strange sound. It was a very loud mechanical whirring and what seemed to be an incredibly large engine. "What in the blazes is that?"

Arthur Grant was cut off by a tank literally coming through the wall. The main cannon was aimed straight at reception. Arthur acted without thinking when he got up and ran to push Bob and himself to one of the back rooms. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to save everyone, the Giant Leopard Tank shot a single shell at the reception desk. The desk blew into splinters and several nurses and other employees were caught in the blast. After the initial blast, men dressed as Uncle Sam, 19th President Rutherford B Hayes. 20th President James A Garfield, 21st President Chester A. Arthur, 22nd President Grover Cleveland, and 23d President Benjamin Harrison. Would enter through the blast cavity that used to be a wall and a pair of double doors with automatic weapons. They fired an immense amount of rounds all over the reception and began checking rooms. They killed everyone in sight, it wasn't a good day to be working at Arkham.
"What the FU-"
Bob would start to yell, but Arthur would shush him. All of this happened in a matter of seconds, and they would have to move immediately if they wanted a chance of living tonight. Orderlies weren't able to carry guns or any sort of weapon, so they had their work cut out for them.
Luckily the room that Grant and Bob managed to get to had a door leading further into the Asylum.
"Quiet, you don't want them to hear you. We need to move, now." Arthur was an orderly but he was a former GCPD officer, his training kicked into high gear right at the onset. He went through the door to another room, and that room led out to the main hallway. Bob was a bit of a bigger guy so Arthur had to slow down to accommodate for him. The two ran down the hallway picking up panicking employees on the way. Arthur and Bob checked rooms, trying to be faster than the kill teams that had just entered the building. They ended up picking up 3 nurses and 2 more orderlies.
"Is there a way to trigger alarms in the other buildings remotely?"
"...Yeah... I think so, you need to get me to a computer."
Arthur nodded. He'd then look to one of the orderlies, his name was Rick and Arthur didn't really know him but at first glance, he looked like someone that could handle himself.
"Its Rick, right?"
"That's right."
"Can you get these people to safety?"
Rick would nod in agreement, while one of the orderlies decided to stay with Arthur and Bob in order to try and take back the asylum.
Rick would take off with the nurses, checking a few more rooms for stragglers before they tried to make their escape at a side exit.
The group of three orderlies went off into the unknown before making it to the security room towards the back of the main building. There were computers here, and one entrance through the main building. There was a door that led outside but that could easily be blocked off. The doors had windows but they were reinforced glass. The system of cameras for the entire island was here as long as access to the entire security system. When Arthur and Bob, and the other orderly arrived there were five more orderlies already reinforcing the room.
""
"You got it."
Bob and the other orderlies got to work straight away, they were all nervous and sweating as they could still hear gunshots in the background. They knew they'd have to work together to survive this, this area would be a defensible area that can hold survivors and be a staging ground to (hopefully) retake the asylum. Arthur would try to contact Jeremiah, but the phone lines were dead, cellphones weren't working either. He'd just have to hope that if he came that he'd try to reach the security room. They'd be able to see anyone approaching because of the cameras and would quickly be able to let him in if he happened to show up.
Rick and the survivors would circle back since there was no way off the island quite yet, the security room was of moderate size and was now a safe haven for the survivors of this heinous attack.
Arthur and his fellow orderlies would finish reinforcing the room and then begin brainstorming on how to retake Arkham Asylum, hoping the city wasn't in as bad of a spot as they were.
