Real Name: Harvey Dent
Also Known As: Gotham's White Knight
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Occupation(s): The Youngest Ever Gotham City District Attorney
Description
Harvey Dent is dashing. It's the best way to describe him. Always dressed to impress in a good suit and with a giant smile, his hair is immaculately cut and his face is clean shaven. Harvey looks like he is stepping out on a red carpet, and it's because he knows he needs to be a shining light for all of Gotham. Every time he goes to court, he treats it as a public display of his fight to cleanse Gotham, and he shows up ready to go. And while Harvey is always freely showing a smile, when it's needed he can look serious, and sometimes even sinister. The pressure of being DA has been known to burn some people out, but Harvey refuses to be one of those people. He can handle the pressure, lives in it, dazzles in it, and it's starting to make some of Gotham's shadier side a whole lore more worried about him.
Abilities/Skills
Harvey Dent is a world-class prosecutor, and his willpower and work ethic is infinite. He can not be bribed, threatened, or scared off. If he has the evidence, he will go for anyone. BE it a lowly street thug, or the Mayor of Gotham City. Harvey Dent believes in justice, and the justice system, and he wields it as lethally as a fire arm. Harvey has also studied some martial arts, and while he is not proficient in any one fighting style, he knows enough to be a tough fight. But Harvey's true defense, besides his charming style, is the licensed Colt 45s he keeps under each arm whenever out and about. His twin beauties are often called Law and Order by his colleagues as an in-joke, and while he's never had a reason to use them yet, he's made sure to train himself to be a dead eye shot, just in case. He knows that should the time come when he needs to use them, every advantage will count.
Weaknesses
Harvey may not be corruptible, bribeable, or scareable, but he isn't entirely impenetrable. He's still just human. He can be shot, attacked, wounded, or poisoned. He enjoys looking at and being with gorgeous women, and his softness for the fairest sex can lead him down bad paths. But he also knows this is a weakness, and if he doesn't think it feels right, he can walk away. Unless it's Ivy's toxin. Then he's screwed. Harvey also has been known to flip a coin on tough decisions. Funny thing is, the coin always seems to come up heads. Also, as DA he has done his best to keep his staff corruption, but it is Gotham after all.
Personality
Harvey is a nice, strong willed person. He has spent years living in Gotham, seeing its corruption eep in every nook and crany, and not being able to do anything. He has seen people go missing for fighting back against the corruption, and is sick of seeing people like Maroni and Falcone get rich off their crimes and corruption. Harvey always treats everyone he meets nicely, until they give him a reason not too. During his run for DA, he made people believe in him, by being as honest and as forthright as he could. Gotham City residents saw that and understood that he could be a force for change. He is a gentle soul, and he does his best to make the people around him better by refusing to give in, despite the mountain of pressure coming at him. Gotham City is his city, and he wants to save it, the best way he knows how. He doesn't see Batman as the solution, more just a temporary fix, which has made just enough cracks for Harvey to be able to finish the job he started.
Background
Harvey Dent was raised by his father, after his mother ran away when she was young. His Dad was a bully and a drunk, and he used to flip a coin to decide whether to beat Harvey or not. Funnily enough, it always came up heads. His Dad was a low ranking member of the DA's office, and not that good of a lawyer, but he was as corrupt as they came, and he often leaked information to the Defense. Finally he was caught and tossed in prison when Harvey was just eight years old, and Harvey went to live with his Aunt in another part of Gotham. Where many might have gone down the bad road, Harvey saw what had happened to his Father and refused to let it happen to him, doing his best to study hard and become a lawyer himself. When kids started bullying him for what had happened to his Dad, Harvey would fight back, often showing off incredible bouts of temper and anger, and his Aunt sent him to a psychiatrist for help. He was diagnosed with split personality disorder, but he worked hard to keep it under control, and in his adult life, he has never had an incident of 'Bad Harvey' coming out. His work ethic though, pushed him harder and further then anyone could have believed, and when he graduated college, he instantly applied for the DA's office, first as a clerk but quickly rising until he was able to run for DA, and following a sensational 'I Believe In Harvey Dent' campaign, he was elected in. Harvey knows this is just the first step though, and he keeps pushing himself to cleanse Gotham.
As for Harvey's family, he has never seen or heard from his mother since she 'left' and there was a strong rumor that she might have been sent away permanently by his father. His Father would end up being shanked in prison for trying to grass up some fellow inmates to a guard. His Rich Aunt passed away not long after Harvey passed college, leaving him as an orphan with a decent bank account behind him. But whereas wealth might change others, Harvey only uses his money to feed himself and get nice suits so he can look good for the courts. He knows how easily wealth can be taken away, and he doesn't want that taken from him. Some people believe he holds aspirations for a higher political role, but the simple truth is, Harvey is happy as DA and wants to use his position to cleanse his city. Once all the corruption and villiany are taken away, maybe then he'll think on the future.
Notoriety
Harvey Dent is a household name in Gotham City. Some of those households really don't like him, but thats to be expected as a public figure. There are some people that think he is a wuss. Others believe he's their shining knight. The Mob probably just want him dead or taken away. At the very least, everyone knows who Harvey Dent is as the DA, but there is one psychiatrist out there that knows the truth of his childhood. Their name is lost in the annals of his memory though, but they'd be the closest thing to a threat Harvey has. Harvey is also on a first name basis with a lot of the socialites in Gotham too, including Bruce Wayne and Pamela Isley, from schmoozing them all for campaign donations.
Special Notes
This Harvey's backstory is a mix of canon and original. Right now, he's set pre-Two Face and I am wide open for suggestions and ideas on how to get Harvey from here to there. As it stands, I'd like to try and establish Harvey in Gotham first, and what kind of a person he is pre-Incident. Also, needs to be said, whose Rachel Dawes? Don't know her.

Harvey Dent stood at the window of his office, looking out over the Gotham City skyline, as the sun was slowly setting behind it, and let himself feel good. Just for a moment.
He had to force himself to do it every day. Had to force positive thoughts and moments in against the backdrop of hell and darkness that kept attacking him. His campaign had been a long one. He had pushed back against all sorts of bribes and unsavory tactics used against him, doing his absolute best to stand tall and show no sign of weakness or anger at the things being spread or done against his name. He had come into these campaign well underfunded compared to the incumbent, and yet, despite all the odds, he stood here tonight with a smile on his face. Because tonight was the most important night of his life.
Even as he thought of it, the door opened and in stepped Nick Anders, one of his main assistants during the campaign race. He walked closer to Harvey, stopping at the opposite side of Harvey's desk and waiting until Dent slowly turned from the window and looked at him.
Nick Anders: "Their ready for you sir."
Harvey nodded and glanced back out the window for a moment more.
Harvey Dent: "Greatest city in the world, isn't it Nick?"
Nick Anders "I wouldn't say that yet, Sir. But with the right leadership, it can certainly go that way."
Harvey chuckled and turned away from the window, looking over at Anders with a smile. Anders was a grizzled older man, who'd been a member of a campaign or three already, and had left a comfortable City Hall job to join Harvey's campaign. If Harvey had lost, he'd be out on his ass completely, but as Anders said, he'd rather that then be drowned under the muck currently polluting City Hall. With a smile Harvey slipped his hand into his pocket and came out with his coin, palming it and looking at Anders smiling.
Harvey Dent: "Heads I go out now. Tails I make them wait."
Harvey flipped the coin high, catching it in his palm and then glancing at it, before looking at Nick with a grin.
Harvey Dent: "Alright. Let's get this show on the road."
With a grin Harvey stepped around the desk and headed for the doors, Nick falling into step behind him. As Harvey moved, he could feel that calm moment wash over him, filling him with the quiet confidence that had pushed him every step so far. He never truly knew where it came from, just that when it was needed, it was there. And considering the speech he was about to give, it was absolutely needed. Walking through the doors, he turned down the corridor, smiling as he saw a few staff members enjoying the quiet peace of this hallway, and avoiding the bedlam that was outside in the main hall. Stopping to shake some hands, and grinning the entire time he did so, happy to share this moment with the people that had worked so hard with him to make it happen. Anders went ahead and waited at the doors, and as Harvey reached them, he nodded at Nick, who opened the doors and instantly the quiet buzz that had been in the background became a dull roar, flashbulbs erupting and cheers being heard. Harvey stepped out slowly, eyes taking in the sight beneath him as he stood on the small balcony of the second floor, looking out at the mass below.
This was his moment.
Raising his hands proudly, the grin was wide on his face as he finally erupted with a loud yell.
Harvey Dent: "WE DID IT!!"
There was a roar following that and Harvey let it sink in. All the campaigning, all the hand shaking, all the bay kissing, it had all been worth it. No matter what mud had been slug, accusations had been made, it hadn't been enough. Harvey Dent was now the District Attorney of Gotham City. He held his pose for a moment, and then slowly lowered his hands and took half a step closer to the single microphone that had been set at the edge of the banister. The noise dying down slightly, as the entire city waited to hear him. He gave it a moment, and then spoke firmly.
Harvey Dent: "This wasn't just me. It was us. A win for Gotham. A win for Justice. For so long, this city has been covered in darkness, and we've all had to pretend we don't see it. Well no more. Because now that I'm in office, we're going to fight that darkness, and we're going to drag it out into light. We're going to shine our light in every dark corner of this city, and we are not going to stop, until this entire city is in the light."
Harvey is slowly building up his speech now, flickering his gaze around the hall with a firm stare, showing the steel behind his words. He believes in what he is saying, and he wants everyone listening to believe as well.
Harvey Dent: "When I started this campaign, I asked for one thing. I asked you to Believe in Harvey Dent. And as it went on, I wondered if I was asking too much. If asking a city that had been so hurt in the past, to put its trust in one man, was too much. To ask a city that has been let down before, to put its faith on a young mans shoulders was too much. To ask a city that has been shown hope before, only to have it taken away at the last moment over and over again was too much. Tonight, Gotham City answered. Gotham City has spoken. They have said in one voice. In one loud loud voice, that they are still ready to hope. To have faith. Tonight Gotham City has screamed from the rafters that THEY Believe in Harvey Dent. That THEY Believe in ME. And I promise you, I will NOT let you down. I will NOT let this city down. I will NOT let my office down. I will NOT let myself down."
"My name is Harvey Dent! And I happily accept the position as YOUR District Attorney. Thank you for believing in me. May God Bless Us, may God bless Gotham City. And May God Bless the United States of America. Thank you and GOOD NIGHT!"
Harvey took a step back and was rewarded with a huge roar of approval and applause. Raising his hands to take it in, and yet knowing his night was just beginning. Tonight he would celebrate, shake hands, and enjoy himself. But tomorrow, his work would begin.
It was time to give this City a hero it could believe in.
