She looked at him in disgust when he offered her the flask, but took it anyway. He laughed it off and would put it away once she was done taking a swig. "Wow... You look like my ex-wife when you look at me that way. The resemblance is uncanny." He smiled, continuing his drive towards Buster's Diner. They would be there before long, it wasn't that far away from the station. That is one of the reasons that Chief Gordon liked to frequent the place. Or at least that what Krause has heard, it could be possible that Gordon didn't go there as often as he once did. Before they arrived at the diner, Montoya was able to answer Detective Krause's question when it came to what she thought about this dentist. She didn't like dentists, but who did? It's not like someone woke up in the morning and said to themselves, you know what I want to do to the day? Go have someone with rubber gloves root around in my mouth for an hour and charge me two grand for it.
"Well it's about a ten-minute drive from here when we're done getting our coffee." Detective Krause would turn his luxurious 2010 red Toyota Avalon off and move to get out of the car. Once he was out he would stretch. First, he would bring his elbow to his nose, to stretch his arm. Then he would stretch to the right and then left to stretch his legs. "Y'know you should stretch every morning, so you don't pull something. Don't ask me where I saw that, but I'm pretty sure it's true." Detective Krause would walk forward, approaching the front door. He would open the door, walk-in, and then pass the door to Detective Montoya. He could smell the eggs, bacon, and coffee as soon as he walked in. They were met with a diner straight out of 1950's America as soon as they walked in. Red stools, and raised red booths with gleaming white tables. The waiters and waitresses wore white outfits too, and there was even a jukebox in the corner. It was a pretty small place, with a counter and a window back to where you could see the kitchen. Detective Krause inhaled the aromas around him and would step to the counter.
"Well good mornin' to ya'll!" There was a middle aged woman behind the counter, she smiled brightly as possible as she saw Detective Krause and Detective Montoya approach her counter. She then noticed the badges that were attached to their belts. "Well if it isn't the boys in blue! Well... boy and girl." Detective Krause blinked a few times before taking one more step forward. "Good mornin' darlin'. I'd like a coffee, as black as you can make it, and whatever my partner wants." The woman would smile and nod as Detective Krause ordered his coffee. She would then glance at Detective Montoya. "And you? What'll you be havin' today?" She smiled again, Detective Krause appeared to be impressed because he thought no one should ever be that happy.

Ten minute drive from the coffee place, not too bad as far as Gotham City goes, especially downtown - this place is massive and sprawling, so a drive that far is practically around the corner. Montoya simply nods towards her new partner as he lets her know how far away it is, her eyes looking out the window at the diner as the car pulls up outside of it. She unbuckles her seat belt and tugs at the handle of the passenger side car door, pushing it open as she steps out and stands at full posture, shutting the door behind her.
Montoya turns and walks around to the front of the car as she watches him doing stretches with an eyebrow raised, not even a smirk on her face as she shakes her head. "I've never pulled anythin' - but I suppose I'm in a lot better shape than ya, Detective Grouch. So maybe it is true, whatever works for ya." She begins to walk past him towards the diner door, he cuts ahead of her and opens the door to enter before she can get in -- she tails behind him, slipping inside the diner with her usual brash demeanor. She feels like she just stepped into a time machine, she's almost worried to approach the counter in case Biff Tannen turns up - but she shrugs off this thought as a friendly woman behind the counter calls out to them.
The two of them approach the counter side-by-side, which then results in them being called the boys in blue - Montoya adjusts her leather jacket to make sure it covers up her badge a little better, her eyes dart over to Klause as he orders...interesting order, a very black coffee. The woman then turns in Renee's direction, asking her what she'd like to order. "What he just ordered. Make it two, and make them to go, we're not stickin' around today." Montoya turns to Krause, leaning on the counter a little bit. "Good choice, Krause. Blackest of black, bitter, gives ya a good kick in the teeth and gets ya ready for the rest of the day - seems like we've both got the same idea."
It doesn't take too long for the two coffees to get made - pretty straight forward order, after all, just pouring it straight into the plastic cups and handing it to the two of them. "Thanks -- I'll be back tomorrow." Montoya happens to feel slightly generous today - so she even flashes a quick smirk in the direction of the waitress before grabbing the coffee as she begins making her way towards the door, not looking back at Klause as she talks while she walks. "So, this dentist, ya asked me what ya think the deal is with the stiff - what's your own prediction, Krause? Got any theories?"

As Detective Krause was paying for the two coffee's, Montoya would comment on his preferred way to drink coffee. "I don't think I've met a homicide detective that took their coffee a different way. We're animals of habit, animals that need something to distract us from this messed up world we're in... or we just like the bitter taste. Depends on how philosophical you want to be." He grinned at his own words, he pocketed the change he received after his purchase and the waitress disappeared into the kitchen for a moment. About two minutes later the waitress was back with the coffee, the pair of detectives took their coffee and left, Paul smiled and waved, Montoya even smiled too so maybe her day wasn't going all that bad. Detective Krause sipped his coffee as soon as he was outside of the diner, he stood in place for a moment while he mulled on the question that Detective Montoya just asked him.
"Botke and associates. Have you heard of them? No? Me neither, so that probably means that our insurance wouldn't cover it. Schultz himself said that it was an office near a super-rich neighborhood. I'd hazard a guess that money was involved, of course that isn't much of a stretch considering a lot of the cases we cover have money somewhere in the mix when it comes to motive." Krause would get back In his car followed by Montoya, he placed the cup in the holster and put his key into the ignition. The car hummed to life, he'd back out and exit the diner parking lot and into traffic. Getting to the dentist's office from here would take a total of ten minutes, depending on traffic. It was pretty early but the morning rush hour hasn't quite started yet.
"So what do you think, coffee okay? Its nothin' fancy but I think it does the trick. Better than the swill we've got on the fourth floor." Krause decided to take the highway, he merged into traffic and changed lanes with relative ease, anyone paying attention could surmise that he was usually the one that did the driving whenever he was on the job.
After Detective Krause mentioned the coffee, he wasn't sure what else he should talk about so he kept to himself. Montoya was a new partner, and she didn't really strike him as someone who loved Smalltalk. He'd abstain from that for now, and would just focus on the case the two had ahead of them. The trip went by pretty quick, when Detective Krause was about to hit the exit, he changed lanes before glancing at Detective Montoya for a brief moment. "I don't frequent rich neighborhoods so could you pull up a GPS, please?" He asked politely, they were about two minutes away at this point, Detective Krause took them as far as the general vicinity of the Dentist's office. "You'll be like my Chekov.... haha, right? Or... Who is the navigator in Next Generation?"

As they get in the car, Montoya smirks slyly, keeping her face turned slightly away from Krause so he doesn't see - if he sees that she isn't putting on her usual scowl, he may suspect that it's some kind of facade, she can't risk that, she has a reputation to maintain. She listens to him finish his theory craft, taking a sip of her bitter black coffee as he brow furrows, although she will never have it any other way - this is the way she needs it to be to get through the day. Montoya sets the cup down on the holder next to her, tugging the seatbelt across her chest and clicking it into the slot. "It's always about the money. Part of me gets it, y'know? I'm sure ya have seen the price of rent in this damn city."
As the engine of the car powers up, she leans back on the passenger chair and stares forward, blank expression on her face while she watches the life in the city around her as the diner disappears behind them. Renee turns her head to look over at Krause as he asks her about the coffee, her eyes quickly glancing down to the cup before she turns her attention back to the road in front as they go up onto the highway. "Even for small talk that was bad. It's coffee. Nothin' philosophical about it - kicks your ass into gear and keeps you awake. It's not as bad as the crap I got from the stall outside the precinct, though, I'll tell ya that."
The drive is silent for the next few minutes, the chatter between the two dying off as they drive on the highway, the humming of the engine and lack of stops along with the sound of the air slipping through the crack at the top of the passenger window as she winds it down. She almost feels relaxed and not as uptight as usual, Renee takes another sip of the coffee and sets it back down just as they approach an exit on the highway and the silence is broken by Krause's request. Montoya just gives a shrug of her shoulders, pulling out her cell phone and finding the GPS app, setting the destination before placing it on the holster on top of the dash so he can see where they're going.
Montoya keeps her eyes on the GPS while watching the arrow that shows where they are on the map getting closer to the destination, not long now - Montoya feels like this case may be bigger than it seems. She's felt this way since the captain threw them straight onto the case before they could even review one case file - this must be important, and she intends to crack it. Her inner train of thought quickly gets derailed as Krause calls her his "Chekov", which she isn't even intending to pretend she understands the reference of, until he mentions Next Generation. "I don't think ya believe for a second I know anythin' about Next Generation, do ya? Don't bust my balls. Where's this dentist place?"
